Re-entering the workforce can be intimidating after the age of 50, especially if you feel your age is a barrier. The good news is it doesn't have to be. More and more employers are actively seeking older workers for the maturity and experience they have to offer.

The mission of Area 10 Agency on Aging's Older Worker Employment Program is to assist you in finding gainful employment. Our employment specialist will give you the personal attention you need. Our program provides people 50 and older with job counseling and resume assistance. We maintain a database of current job openings in the area and can point you in the direction of the jobs that best fit your skills and interests.

We also have referral services for additional education. For example, Ivy Tech's Senior Scholars Program  provides free tuition for Indiana seniors 60 and older who qualify. These services are offered free of charge to both employers and employees.

The Older Worker Employment Program has placed over 500 people in the last five years. We often receive comments like the following: "I didn't know your program was even offered, but you have made all the difference. Thanks. I can pay my rent and buy medicine now."
